On May 15, 1876 station Apeldoorn opened its doors and the route Amersfoort-Apeldoorn-Zutphen was complete. This was part of the then important Eastern Railway, which connected the west of the country with Germany.

King William III played an important role in the construction and as a thanks even got a trace to the Het Loo Palace. In 1912 the station was given a royal waiting room, often used by Queen Wilhelmina. In 1976 the luxury interior was dismantled. Since then it has been in the possession of museum Coda in Apeldoorn. But in the space you still feel the royal spheres.
